Dear SNA Learner

As I am sure, you are acutely aware that the economic recession has made it increasingly difficult to find and retain a job. The job market has become highly competitive and the pressure for higher qualifications is ever present. This means jobseekers cannot stand still, they need to continually improve and add to their qualifications.

Why not broaden your horizons and open up the opportunities to find a role an early years centre by completing your Certificate in Childcare FETAC Level 5 Major Award or just improve your skills for working with junior infants. With the advent of the new free preschool year ECCE scheme there is an increased demand for qualified childcare practitioners. In addition there will be further opportunities to progress your career once you have completed your Level 5 major award. E.g. Advanced Certificate in Supervision in Childcare FETAC Level 6, Advanced Certificate in Management FETAC Level 6 and following that a related degree in one of Ireland’s renowned third level colleges.

It is anticipated that there will be a requirement for SNA’s to have a major award in the future so why wait! One of the avenues you might explore would be the Certificate in Childcare FETAC Level 5 Major Award mentioned above.

If you have any queries concerning your previous qualification with the College please ring Brenda O’Brien 01 4884312 to discuss your options.

For the coming September you might like to consider adding one of the following major awards:
