Who should participate in this course?

This course is designed for those people who are working, or planning to work, with children with special needs in a pre-school environment.


General Aims

To give the learner an excellent understanding of the various difficulties and disabilities that children may have, in order to ensure both a positive learning and life experience for the children with whom they will be working.

40 hours (see timetable for details)


Entry Requirements

Minimum age is 17 Years

All learners must be fluent English speakers.

Learners must be capable of undertaking assessment work to Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate standard.

International learners undertaking this course should have confidence in their English language, reading, writing and comprehension skills and have at least as 5 IELTS score or equivalent.

Work Experience

It is recommended but not essential that learners complete a minimum of 30 hours working in pre-school setting with a child with special needs. Work experience may be undertaken in a paid or voluntary capacity.

Continuous assessment method based on the following:
