Certificate in Foundation Studies in the Montessori Method of Education

Who should participate in this course?
The course is designed for people who are working, or planning to work, as a Montessori Assistant, or for those who may wish to include the Montessori method as part of the nursery/crèche environment.  It would also be valuable for parents who wish to know more about the Montessori method of education.

General Aims
  • To gain knowledge of the philosophy of Montessori Education
  • To develop skills, knowledge and understanding of the role of the Montessori assistant
  • To develop confidence and motivation
  • To develop practical classroom skills
  • To provide a basis for further study and career development

Entry Requirements

No specific entry requirements. Minimum age is 17 years.

Learners must also be capable of undertaking assessment work to Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate standard.

International learners undertaking this course should have confidence in their English language, reading, writing and comprehension skills and have at least a 5 IELTS  score or equivalent.

Work Experience

It is recommended that learners on this course complete a minimum of 20 hours work experience in a Montessori classroom during the course.
