The College of Progressive Education is committed to supporting people who are working in Early Childhood Care and Education and to the recognition of prior learning.
Practitioners who wish to join the new ECCE free pre-school year scheme will need to have or will need to obtain a FETAC Level 5 or 6 Award.
For those Practitioners who have extensive experience in the provision of Early Childhood Care and Education and need to obtain the FETAC Level 5 or 6 award, the College is offering a self directed learning option to obtain their qualification. This programme requires the learner to have extensive prior experience in the childcare sector. The College is running the full FETAC Level 6 Supervision in Childcare Award via Distance Learning This will involve learners carrying out a substantial amount of self directed learning and attending 7 Saturday seminars in Dublin. Tutor support will be provided via online and phone and learners will have access to the academic team in the office. A comprehensive set of course materials are also provided online. This programme assumes learners have already acquired a good understanding of childcare. For those learners who need to acquire the skills and the award at an easier pace the College provides the FETAC Level 6 Supervision in Childcare Major Award over 16 Months. Discounts are available for those who have a number of qualifying modules already. If a business is funding this programme you may be able to claim tax relief on the cost of the programme.
